Suspicious death confirmed as city’s latest homicide

The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that a 32-year-old Edmonton man is the city’s latest homicide victim.

Autopsy results released this afternoon confirm that Shawn Richard died early Monday morning, as a result of a stab wound to the chest.

Investigators are searching for the driver of a black pick-up truck that was seen driving near the crime scene, at 95 Street between 117 and 118 avenues, at approximately 3:20 a.m., Monday, Aug. 31st. Homicide detectives believe this witness may be able to provide valuable information that may assist with their investigation.

Background:
Police received a call at approximately 3:30 a.m. Monday morning, claiming a male was lying on 95 Street between 117 and 118 avenues.

Upon arrival, officers found a deceased male, believed to be in his 20s, lying on the road. Homicide detectives have since taken over the crime scene.
